Classic cooking spoon from Carbonized/Green Birch.
I saw my mom using these kind of spoons for stiring and preparing lovely meals for decades... so I figured this style works.
Every meal becomes a treat using fine hand carved spoons!
The shape of this spoon is inspired by classic European spoons and the long octagonal handle feels comfortable whatever you do with it.
About my Spoons:
An eating spoon is one of the most essential, versatile, personal and purely functional items of our daily lives... yet mostly taken for granted and over looked.
In my strive to remind my fellow folk to appreciate the items and little companions we surround ourselves with every day, the spoon plays an essential role!
We learn eating using a spoon and often keep that very one our whole lives, we cook for our beloved ones and in German we even use the expression "to hand in your spoon" for passing away.
I have devoted many years to learning how to make a good spoon with simple tools.
Following my European roots, although spending most of my life in in Japan and Canada, I carve these entirely with a nordic carving axe and a set of razor sharp tools. No sand paper nor power tools ever touch these!
The ancient brothers form and function merge to create timeless beauty!
Finely cured and finished in linseed oil, these spoons are meant to be used every day for a lifetime!
Wash your spoon with dish soap and wipe them dry. A patina will build up over time and your spoons will become even smoother and more beautiful as they mature with you!
A drop of Linseed or vegetable oil always makes your spoons day!
Never put them in a harsh dishwasher, please!
The shape of this spoon is inspired by classic European spoons and the long round handle feels comfortable whatever you do with it.
Please allow for 7 days from date of order until shipping, and I kindly ask you for understanding that handcarved items from natural materials slightly vary in color and shape!
Please don´t hesitate asking any questions!
Classic Cooker - Made to Order
No return on spoons unless damaged during the transport!
I had only a handful of spoons cracking on me in several years and I am glad I haven´t had a case in a while. If a spoon happens to crack down the road, it is part of the woods behavior. They are made and designed to avoid that though!
The spoons are sturdy and take proper use for decades, but I don´t refund spoons breaking due to abuse or improper care.
Your spoon/bowl/kuksa is finished with several layers of raw linseed oil, which builds up an internal and external hardened layer. It protects the wood from moisture and thus warping, decaying and cracking.
You can wash all the products using warm water and dish soap, followed by drying them off using a kitchen towel.
Please don´t soak them nor put them in the dishwasher though!
Over time a dark patina will form on the surface, which is normal and protective!
Maintenence is always key to long life and prelonged beauty of everything, so you can keep applying some food safe oil to your wooden products every once in a blue moon and the wood will thank you showing lovely colors and matured looks.
