After huge success on my social media, my signature Kayak Spoon is now available here, with several customizeable options.
The name comes from the place of inspiration aswell as the bowl looking like a kayak seat with the handle having the angles of the original hide on frame vessel.
In short, I was experimenting with keel less spoons, the other principle so to say, for a long time.
Inspired by the great designs of Japan and some First Nations artefacts I had seen at the museum of anthropology in Vancouver years ago, I wanted to explore this slick and sturdy alternative to deep keeled European style spoons.
You may think that's a merge of East and West... but exploring the Atlas a little closer, reveals the neighbourhood of the two cultures and all the other prehistoric parallels.
This Style of spoon is perfect for outdoor adventures, traveling, and breakfast table alike. The special ergonomics and archaic looks make this spoon a unique handling and using experience that take you back...
Available in birch, carbonized and plain, milk paint finish and chip carving.
The surface is smooth as silk, which is the burnishing effect you get from hair-splittingly sharp knives! Please note that the sample images refer to the type of chipcarving, not the wood finish!
The homogenous characteristics of birch, make sure that this spoon is only getting better over time and with continuous use. The patina formed over time makes it even prettier, smoother and more durable while discolorations due to food and transfer of taste is kept at a minimum.
Every spoon I make is handcarved with axe and knives, without use of machines nor sandpaper, achieving the best finish.

Don´t hesitate to ask any questions please, as it is my pleasure to help with any inquiries and concerns!
Your spoon/bowl/kuksa is finished with several layers of raw linseed oil, which builds up an internal and external hardened layer. It protects the wood from moisture and thus warping, decaying and cracking.
You can wash all the products using warm water and dish soap, followed by drying them off using a kitchen towel.
Please don´t soak them nor put them in the dishwasher though!
Over time a dark patina will form on the surface, which is normal and protective!
Maintenence is always key to long life and prelonged beauty of everything, so you can keep applying some food safe oil to your wooden products every once in a blue moon and the wood will thank you showing lovely colors and matured looks.
