Another vintage project.

This time an old @hultsbruk1697 snickaryxa {carpenters axe} I brought back from my 2 month tour around Sweden.

-

This represents the best of both worlds and is ideal from someone who wants to be able to carve stuff, hew things, fell some and split some and do anything alese around camp, on a canoe trip or hunt.

-

I restored the poll using files, hollow ground the thin bit to a 28 degree bevel with micro convex {in today reel using my @tormek_sharpening T4} for the most easy maintenance and versatility.

-

Then I hung the axe on a super handy 50cm Swedish hickory haft which I thinned, carved a very tactile fawns foot and then finished in @realmilkpaintco color and dark tungoil.

-

I started also to experiment with cross wedges on this one. Lots to learn but she sits tight.

-

Of course I also made a custom fitted mask in German harness leather with brass hardware, hand cut and burnished edges.

-

This one is a lifetime of an axe and companion from Spooncarving to building a house.

Full disclosure, there is a hairline check in the knob of the haft from temperature/humidity changes between Sweden and Austria.

Hard to see and totally irrelevant.

Still, 10% Off on this one!
